Over the weekend I finally finished “Becoming” by Michelle Obama. It took me a while to get through this book but I enjoyed it overall. The former FLOTUS lived up to the moniker No Drama Obama and this book was a bit dry and boring but it’s worth it to push through. Michelle Obama is a remarkable woman with a remarkable story.
The book starts out with Michelle’s childhood in a lower working class Black neighborhood on the south side of Chicago. It ends with the inauguration ceremony of Donald Trump. What a journey. Michelle Obama is an American treasure who made many sacrifices for the United States while supporting her husband’s ambition. She was treated terribly by many Americans but served and fulfilled her role with grace and tact while raising two daughters in the political limelight.

I recommend this book for anyone that likes to learn about American history or influential women. Michelle Obama is a great role model in character, as a career woman, wife and mother.
