What is your career plan?
That’s a hard question to answer in middle age. I look for opportunities to learn new things in my current job but it’s really kind of a dead end. I am looking for a pathway for more professional and financial growth but my job and employer are limited in advancement opportunities.
Meanwhile, I continue to apply for jobs and hope for the best. It’s difficult because there aren’t many jobs on career sites that pay enough for me to quit my current position which has me in a career rut. This is why job hunting in middle age is difficult.
I’m interested in exploring self employment and freelance work. For now I would do that on a part time basis because my job offers security and I’m not in a place where I can give that up. Self employment might be great income during retirement and it’s better to establish myself now.
There is a lot to consider when a lot is behind you but a lot more may still be ahead of you.
