My political opinions haven’t changed much over time.   Politics and cultural values have changed.  I consider myself to be liberal.  The term liberal has taken on a new meaning over the last few years.

To me liberal means use tax dollars to fund projects that benefit all citizens and protect the rights of all citizens.  I don’t mind paying taxes to fund libraries, parks, education, mass transit, health and mental health and financial assistance to those in need.  The government should not interfere in personal matters and should respect privacy.  Church and state should be separate.  All Americans have the right to safety and the pursuit of happiness and prosperity.

I think there should be public assistance for vulnerable members of society like children, the elderly and the disabled.  I’m pro Gun Control.  I’m Pro Choice.  I’m anti death penalty.  I’m pro Affirmative Action for Black Americans.   The program should have been expanded instead of dismantled.  Reparations should be seriously considered.

I don’t agree with some current liberal matters.  Gender non conformity is not a civil right.  Males and females are different.  Sex and gender is not fluid and it is not a matter of choice.  It’s not my business what men wear but men should not be allowed in women’s spaces nor should they be allowed to take advantage of opportunities for women.  It is not my responsibility to validate them.  I think parents that support children transitioning from one gender to another have Munchausen by Proxy. 

I think capitalism is the best economic system.  I prefer to rely on my own resources.  I trust myself to look out for my interests but I’m not too sure about communal or government provisions.  Minorities would be far worse off under socialism or communism due to greed and racism.  

The US should take a stand in global affairs for democracy and against terrorism.

I wish there could be a peaceful Two State Solution between Israel and the Palestinians.  The US has been trying to aid peace in the middle east since the 70s.  With that said I low key support Israel.

I believe in Jesus Christ and the Bible’s model for a family.   I say that as a middle aged, childless spinster.  I never compromised on that and I  have no regrets.

Politics has been pushing boundaries to the left in ways that don’t make sense.  I don’t support political “Progressives”.  I don’t support MAGA either.  Views that use to be liberal are now moderate because the political landscape changed.
