The half time performer at Superbowl LIX was Kendrick Lamar. I think he did a good job. The production was well rehearsed and the performance was crisp. Kendrick is very professional. The performance was family friendly and clean. There was no strong language or sexual vibes.

Kendrick Lamar was styled to perfection. I loved the jeans and I can tell that a lot of thought went into his casual, urban look. His clothing was understated with the perfect hint of rock star. The stylist did an excellent job.

It’s absolutely bizarre to me that a dis track made it to the Superbowl Half Time Show. I never thought I would live to see the day. “Not Like Us” won Kendrick Lamar a Grammy. So far it’s been a great 2025 for Kendrick Lamar.

Has anyone seen Drake? Has anyone checked on him? Is he OK. I looked at his IG while writing this. There is a post that was made an hour ago. There was also a post advertising new music on the day of the Superbowl which is pretty smart. I listened to it. It’s OK but at first it sounded like Justin Timberlake.

I couldn’t imagine having a diss track about me winning a Grammy and then a week later the same song is performed at the Superbowl Halftime Show. Drake and his fans or perhaps bots seem to be soldiering through this painful season in their lives.

I don’t think Drake’s career will be devastated by Kendrick Lamar. Drake came to Kansas City a year or two ago on tour. The cheapest tickets were a few hundred a piece and the show sold out. (I was interested in going but those tickets are too rich for my blood.) Drake is the second most streamed artist. Taylor Swift who was also in attendance at Superbowl LIX is number one.

It has been proven time and again that no one is ever cancelled. Look at Trump who mad an unprecedented appeared at Superbowl LIX. (I blame Trump for the Chiefs choking.) I’m not worried about Drake’s music sales or tours. I’m concerned with his core. There’s no way he hasn’t been shaken and damaged in a profound way.

I fear Kendrick struck a blow that is unlikely to completely heal. There is no therapist Drake can seek to sort this out because no one else has been through anything like this. I hope Drake knows Jesus. Only God can give a person that kind of strength.

Kendrick’s performance was not popular among many on social media. They don’t really explain why they didn’t like the performance. They just express how much they hated it. I think they are MAGA. Enough said.

I was surprised when I heard that Kendrick Lamar was chosen as the half time selection. My opinion is that the Superbowl Half Time show needs a pop star. Kendrick’s music isn’t pop rap. It’s what I call car rap which is better appreciated by hip hop connoisseurs. Kendrick performed with SZA who complemented him well. SZA is popular but still isn’t what I consider to be mainstream pop. The unedited version of her biggest hit is about killing her ex boyfriend. Samuel L. Jackson as Uncle Sam was chef’s kiss.

It’s 2025 and times are changing. The half time show is current which is why MAGA doesn’t like it. If it was up to them they would have a hologram of the Everly Brothers perform. I’m Gen X and grew up during the pop star era. There aren’t many pop stars left like the kind I grew up with so the NFL did their best. I enjoyed it. Congratulations to the city of Philadelphia and the Eagles.
