D’Wayne Wiggins was a member of the R&B band Tony! Toni! Tone! He died Friday, March 7 of bladder cancer in his hometown of Oakland, CA at 64 years old. I was not a super fan of the group but their song “Feels Good” is one of my favorite songs of all time. It’s a great pop hit that is super catchy with an R&B feel. The song came out in 1990 and well it just makes the listener feel good.
The other Tony! Toni! Tone! song that I know well is “It Never Rains in Southern California”. The song was featured in a scene from the movie “Menace II Society”. I think of “It Never Rains in Southern California” whenever I hear about flooding or fires in southern California so that song has popped into my mind several times since it’s 1990 release date over the last few years.
My condolences to the surviving members of the band. D’Wayne’s band mates were his brother and cousin.
