This is very sad. America is in the Dark Age. Art and creativity is very important for individual development and humanity. Art reaches people in a powerful way. Art makes the viewer think and challenges the viewer. I’ve learned a lot about history and culture from studying art. Art and k-12 art education should be supported. Supporting art is a good investment and society gets a return on its investment.
Art speaks to our humanity, spirit and intellect. Art arouses the imagination. Public art causes an individual to pause and think about what they’re seeing and it creates human connections.
The modern world does not support and appreciate creativity enough. The world is too money driven and focused on tangibles. Art is hard to put a value on and it’s subjective and the modern world discards such things.
There needs to be balance. The modern world can not only focus on production and financial return. There needs to be investments in the spirit and mind and creativity should be encouraged. I believe that this will encourage innovative thinking, human connection, understanding and social cohesion. In turn all of that creates an environment for tangible production and financial growth. Defunding art is a terrible idea.
