Kind of but it’s not exactly a quote. I grew up watching day time soap operas. All of them at one point during the 80s and 90s. At times I refer back to the “As the World Turns” opening in my mind. Some events seem earth shattering on a personal, communal or global level.
We all have to manage our personal lives, support those close to us and pray for our world. But in the grand scheme of things nothing stops the world from turning. I’m amazed at how it keeps going and going. It was turning before I entered human history and unless it stops turning during my lifetime it will continue to turn once my life is over. That puts things in perspective.
“Like sands through an hourglass, so are the days of our lives” is along the same vein. One way or another personal challenges will pass and then there are likely to be new challenges until the sands run out. I just try to get up every day and do my best to balance everything out.
