Discernment gets better with age. It requires the ability to be honest with yourself, reflect and evaluate. You need a good spiritual foundation which means studying the Bible, being obedient and having a prayer life. Without growth and discernment people practice the same mistakes and get meaner, dumber, lazier and become bitter. That coincides with the challenges that come along with aging. What is left is often unpleasant and unfortunate.
βWisdom belongs to the aged, and understanding to the oldβ (Job 12:12 NLT)
“He will renew your life and sustain you in your old ageβ (Ruth 4:15 NIV)
βEven to your old age and gray hairsΒ I am he,Β I am he who will sustain you. I have made you and I will carry you;Β I will sustainΒ you and I will rescue youβ (Isaiah 46:4 NIV)
