My Favs from the Met Gala 2024 📸

The Met Gala was Monday, May 6. The high profile event is a fundraiser for the costume division of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City. The affair is known as fashion’s biggest night out. It’s an opportunity for famous and wealth people to be seen in high end fashion while supporting the arts. The theme was “Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion”.

Venus Williams was my favorite look of the night. She looked absolutely outstanding in this Marc Jacob’s dress. This look is simple and Venus carried herself with mature elegance. Venus lived up to her name Monday night.

The fashion icon Naomi Campbell looked great in this dress by Burberry. She looked statuesque and elegant and as always she had a confident presence.

Sydney Sweeney was dressed in Miu Miu. I loved this dress. The black leather gloves and veil put this over the top. Sydney Sweeney is blonde but she changed her hairstyle for the event. It worked! This is an example of great styling.

Elle Fanning is a fashion hero of mine. Excellence is in being consistent and Elle doesn’t fail. This dress is meant to look like glass and it flattered Elle’s fair complexion very well.

I had never seen or heard of this man before. He is Gustave Magnar Witzoe. He’s a Norwegian billionaire who made his money through investments and signed with a modeling agency. He wasn’t the only unknown wealthy person at the Met Gala. I don’t know if they sell tickets to this or what.

I like this nude, Roman toga for some reason. It reminds me of the male version of Britney Spears sparkle body suit from the “Toxic” video. He got our attention and had some fun with fashion. I think he could have worn a better shoe. A sandal would have worked better than canvas Sperrys.

People like this man are crucial to red carpet events. Someone has to do it. Someone has to wear the goose dress or gold credit card dress or nude, bedazzled Roman toga with sewn in glitter abs. I salute this man.

Keke Palmer looked great in this Marc Jacobs dress. The strategic rips gave the outfit some edge and sex appeal. Her high ponytail made her a foot taller.

For real though…Alexander Skarsgard represented the men well at the Met Gala in this classic, Calvin Klein tux.

Model Anok Yai is simply gorgeous. She looks like an African Tinkerbell to me. Unfortunately, I didn’t care for the way Anok Yai was styled for the Met Gala. Her red carpet look was by Swarovski but it was missing sophistication Swarovski is known for. Anok’s after party look was showing too much skin and it lacked refinement, elegance and class.

Anok got played a bit. I hope there will be improvement in the future because opportunities were missed Monday night. Anok is not the problem. She is a born supermodel. She walked in the last Ralph Lauren fashion show and looked stunning. I won’t say the stylists failed because they were working with a great foundation but they could have done much better.

Dwyane Wade and Gabrielle Union coordinated beautifully in this aquatic inspired, pastel look by Michael Kors. They are champions of fashion and the red carpet.

Nicole Kidman can be depended on for good fashion. I’m disappointed in celebrities for wearing Balenciaga after their scandalous ad campaign a few years back. Balenciaga is proof that no one is ever really cancelled. Her dress is a recreation of a design from the early 1950s. Nicole looked nice as always though. What can I say?

This dress was absolutely perfect for the Met Gala. Mindy Kaling wore this dress by designer Gaurav Gupta. It looks like modern art and architecture and I love the neutral color.
