I listened to “The Woman in Me” by Britney Spears last week. I enjoyed this book and I was impressed by Britney Spears. Britney told her story and she discussed her childhood, rise to fame, family dynamics and her conservatorship. There is a lot more to Britney Spears than pop culture consumers giver her credit for.
This may sound odd but Britney is smart, creative, family oriented and spiritual. It’s not that I thought she was the opposite of these things but I just never thought about her beyond her music and videos. She came up with the concept for the video to her debut single “Hit Me Baby One More Time” and made pop history at sixteen years old.
Britney is direct, honest and genuine. I appreciate Britney’s candor in “The Woman in Me”. I also think she is fair in her judgements of people. Britney is a tough cookie and an overcomer.
Britney comes off as very quirky on IG but she’s been through some things that would make her a little odd. I think she has plenty of sense.
Despite being a sex symbol Britney has not been treated well by men. Britney Spears had a relationship with fellow pop star Justin Timberlake. Justin is a selfish douchebag.
Justin and Britney lived together for some years while they were young. He cheated on her with different women. They conceived a child that he asked for her to abort which she did. He ended it all with a text message and then moved on.

Britney’s ex husband and father of her sons is a snake that colluded with her family to what could be called bribery and extortion.
Britney never had a good relationship with her family. Britney was the black sheep of the family that became a pop star. They essentially kidnapped her, psychologically tortured her, used her children as bait, held her prisoner and robbed her for thirteen years until she petitioned to end her conservatorship with the support and encouragement of her fans.
I feel like I understand Britney Spears a lot better now. If you are ever tempted to judge Britney Spears harshly give her a break. She has had some unusual and crazy experiences.
The actress Michelle Williams did a good job of narrating Britney’s words.
